Adobe Premiere Pro vs Final Cut Pro

Platform

Final Cut Pro is Mac-only, a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store. Premiere Pro runs on both Windows and Mac, as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription.

Workflow

Final Cut’s magnetic timeline is built for fast solo editing on a Mac. Premiere Pro’s timeline is more conventional and track-based, which most editors coming from other software find familiar, and it integrates directly with After Effects for motion graphics.

Which to choose

If you’re on Windows, Premiere Pro is the only one of the two available to you. If you’re on Mac and only ever edit solo, Final Cut’s one-time price can work out cheaper long-term. If you collaborate with editors on Windows, or want tight integration with After Effects and Photoshop, Premiere Pro is the more flexible choice.
